Lai Ying (Noreen) LokNMW0002111411Facial Balancing & Asymmetry
Differences in proportion between the two sides of the face, or between features such as the chin, jawline and midface, are common reasons people book a consultation with us. Almost every face has some natural asymmetry, and it can feel more or less noticeable from person to person. If this is a concern for you, please book a consultation with our team.

Overview
What is facial balance and asymmetry?
Facial balance describes how the features of the face sit in proportion to one another, such as the forehead, cheeks, chin and jawline. Asymmetry means the two sides of the face are not exact mirror images. Some asymmetry is completely normal and present in nearly every face.
What causes it?
Proportion and symmetry can be influenced by genetics, bone structure, jaw and dental alignment, muscle activity, habits such as chewing mostly on one side, past injury, and the natural changes that come with ageing. These factors can shift over time, which is why a feature someone has never noticed can start to stand out.
Why people come to us
Reasons people seek consultations
Every face is unique, and the reasons people come to us for a facial balance consultation are just as individual. Some are simply curious about what they have noticed, while others want a professional opinion before deciding anything. Common reasons include:
- Noticing that one side of the face looks different from the other, particularly in photos
- A chin, jawline or cheek that feels out of proportion with the rest of the face
- Changes in facial shape over time or after weight changes
- Wanting to understand what is natural and what may be changeable
- Wanting a professional opinion before making any decision

During your consultation we can explain the different treatments that may be able to address your concern. Our team is made up of health professionals who will give you honest advice on what is suitable for you.
